LAWYER BLAMES EASTERN FLOODS ON POLICE NEGLIGENCE

A citizen of Akyem Lawyer Kwame Gyan has blamed government and the Akyem Divisional Police command for the recent flood that hit the Eastern Region.

He explains that he led a delegation to the Police to complain about the continuous illegal mining activities in the community but the Police directed them to write a petition to that effect.

According to Lawyer Kwame Gyan, the negligence of the police led to the enormous galamsey operations in the area.

He stress that just as President Mills attributed the floods to galamsey operations he should blame the Police in arresting the operators.

Meanwhile, the District Police Commander at Atiwa, DSP Rev John Opoku denied that they directed them to write a petition.

He says the Mining commission was responsible for petition and not the Police.

DSP Rev John Opoku rather advise them to make a formal complains to Police so that they would declare the community against galamsey activities.
