Vice President John Dramani Mahama has cautioned aspiring parliamentary aspirants using his name and office to prosecute their campaigns to desist forthwith.

A statement signed by his Spokesperson, John Abdulai Jinapor, said the Vice President is unhappy with reports that some aspirants in their meetings with delegates claim that they were either asked by him to contest, or they are his preferred candidate in the constituency while others claim that he is the financier of their campaign.

The statement made it clear that the Vice President is not supporting any candidate in the upcoming parliamentary primaries of the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC), and urged delegates to ignore such claims any time they are made.

He also used the opportunity to wish all aspirants well and urged them to carry out their campaign in a civil and decorous manner in the supreme interest of party unity.
